Academic Foundations

Yvonne’s physiotherapy career began with a Bachelor of Health in Physiotherapy from Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Her drive to deepen her knowledge led her to the Catholic University of Leuven (Katholiek Universiteit Leuven) in Belgium, where she earned a Master of Science in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation with a specialization in Cardiopulmonary (Cardiorespiratory) Rehabilitation. Complementing her foundational studies, she has achieved several advanced postgraduate diplomas from Queens Margaret University Scotland, via the Society of Musculoskeletal Medicine, and University of Birmingham England.

 

  • Diploma Foundation in Musculoskeletal Medicine.
  • Diploma in Advancing Practice in Musculoskeletal Medicine.
  • Diploma in Theory and Practice of Injection Therapy. Additionally,
  • Practice Certificate in Independent Prescribing from the University of Birmingham.

Diverse Professional Experience

Yvonne’s professional experience spans across Netherlands, Belgium and the United Kingdom. In Belgium, she worked as a cardiorespiratory physiotherapist at renowned institutions such as University Hospital Gasthuisberg Leuven and Brussels University Hospital. Her roles encompassed working in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and ambulatory respiratory and cardiac rehabilitation, giving her critical exposure to complex medical conditions.

In 2015, Yvonne moved to the UK to broaden her expertise in Musculoskeletal (MSK) Medicine, taking on a role as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist at ASCENTI. Over six years, she refined her skills and completed advanced MSK modules through the Society of Musculoskeletal Medicine, enabling her to excel in diagnosing and treating a broad range of MSK conditions.

Currently, she works as a First Contact/Advanced Practice Physiotherapist for Primary Care Physio, where her responsibilities include:

  • Serving as the first point of contact for MSK conditions.
  • Conducting advanced assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning.
  • Screening for red flags and referring patients appropriately.
  • Independently requesting and interpreting diagnostic tests such as X-rays and MRIs, blood science.
  • Administering joint and soft tissue injections
  • Prescribing Medications for MSK Pain Management
  • Designing holistic care plans focusing on self-management and rehabilitation.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and advising GPs on MSK management.

A Holistic and Evidence-Based Approach

Yvonne is renowned for her biopsychosocial approach to physiotherapy, integrating evidence-based practice, education, hands-on practice/ Manual Therapy, and exercise therapy. Her commitment is to help patients recover from injuries or illness-enhancing their overall quality of life.
