What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy aims at restoring movement and function in the affected areas when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability. We take a holistic approach that involves an assessment, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, maintenance and restoration of physical activity/function and performance of the body which in turn helps to improve the individuals’ quality of life.
Physiotherapy can be helpful for people of all ages who suffer with a wide range of health conditions, including problems affecting the:

  • Musculoskeletal system (involving bones, joints and soft tissue)– such as back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain and sports injuries
  • Neurology (involving the brain or nervous system) – such as movement problems resulting from a stroke, multiple sclerosis (MS) or Parkinson’s disease
  • Cardiovascular (heart and circulation) – such as rehabilitation after a heart attack
  • Respiratory (lungs and breathing) – such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD – Asthma and emphysema) and cystic fibrosis

At AgGreSso we use different treatment techniques depending on the specific problem you’re experiencing. These include but are not limited to the following:

  • Education and advice on self- Management: – We give general advice about things that can affect your daily lives, such as posture and correct lifting or carrying techniques to help prevent injuries, as well as advice on self-management post-injury / illness
  • Exercise therapy (movement, tailored exercise and physical activity advice): – exercises may be recommended to improve your general health and mobility by strengthening specific parts of your body
  • Manual therapy – Hands-on therapy (joint mobilisations, massage and spinal manipulation) to help relieve pain and stiffness and encourage better body movement.
  • Acupuncture – where fine needles are inserted into specific points of the body, with the aim of reducing pain and promoting recovery, and
cupping as an alternative to manual therapy
